VieCER PhD Club
Target group: doctoral candidates and postdoctoral researchers studying elections and political communication in the broadest sense; but also open to other research questions.
Contact: George Georgarakis, Hannah Greber
The VieCER PhD Club is an interdisciplinary group of PhD students mainly from the Department of Communication, but it also includes members from the Department of Government, the Department of Political Science, and external research institutions. Research questions encompass a diverse range of topics related to political communication, including political campaigns, emotions in political speech, science communication as a form of political communication, constructive communication, and platform power, among others. The group also explores broader issues, including both substantive and methodological aspects of political communication research. It offers doctoral candidates a platform to discuss their ongoing research related to political communication. Additionally, it provides support and a space to discuss topics relevant to the PhD journey, such as FÖP proposals, conference participation, or paper reviews.
The meetings are open to all PhDs and postdocs regardless of the department they work. The format of the meetings is as follows:
a. 11:00–11:15 minutes open question panel
b. 11:15–12:00 topic of the day (all topics will be communicated upon registration)
c. 12:00–12:30 space for formal presentations (this is optional, if nobody signs up on the different dates we plan to just extend the topic of the day session to 12:30).
After the meetings, all participants can have lunch together & around once a semester we will plan drinks for Wednesday evenings.
