Group 2: Monday, 21 October 12:00–15:00, and Mondday, 18 November 2024, 12:00–15:00

Group 3: Tuesday, 22 October 16:00–19:00, and Tuesday, 19 November 2024, 16:00–19:00

This mentoring supports you in developing a doctoral thesis project in a moderated peer-to-peer setting and prepares you for the public presentation at the Faculty of Social Sciences (FÖP). A coach and peers provide feedback on the research design of your doctoral thesis project, the theoretical framework you plan to build on and the methodology you intend to use, thereby helping you to develop your research proposal.

Participants will work in small groups led by a postdoctoral researcher or an advanced doctoral candidate from the Faculty of Social Sciences. Each group will meet twice during the winter semester of 2024/25 with several weeks in between meetings.

Target group: The mentoring is open to student members of the Vienna Doctoral School of Social Sciences (ViDSS), especially to doctoral candidates who have registered for the course FK Introduction Course: From Research Proposal to Successful Public Presentation. If places are available, doctoral candidates in the Social Sciences who are not (yet) members of the ViDSS can join the mentoring.

Venue:  Conference Room of the Faculty of Social Sciences (Room C628A), Staircase III, 6th Floor, Neues Institutsgebäude (NIG), Universitätsstraße 7, 1010 Vienna (both sessions of groups 1 and 2); Meeting Room of the Vienna Doctoral School of Social Sciences (Seminar Room 11), 1st Floor, Kolingasse 14–16, 1090 Vienna (both sessions of group 3).

Registration: via e-mail to roman.pfefferle@univie.ac.at until 23 September 2024 (Please state your field of research/discipline and the working title of your research project). Please note that participants need to submit a first draft of their research proposal approximately one week before the first meeting with the mentor via moodle (deadline: 14 October 2024).
