Research Ethics Pre-Screening for PhD Projects

Doctoral candidates in the social sciences have to conduct the Research Ethics Pre-Screening for PhD Projects before registering for the public presentation at the Faculty. The Pre-Screening is an online self-assessment during which doctoral candidates have to answer a set of questions about their doctoral thesis project and submit a short ethical reflection (max. 2,500 characters). Please note that you have to login with your u:account UserID and your u:account password to access the Pre-Screening.

After the successful public presentation at the Faculty

Doctoral candidates who successfully passed the public presentation at the Faculty need to proceed according to the specifics of their research field. All candidates can do the regular Research Ethics Screening of the Faculty of Social Sciences which includes not only an online self-assessment but also a review by the Institutional Review Board of the Faculty (IRB). In several research fields, candidates are encouraged to do the regular Research Ethics Screening before they start empirical research/field work. Please discuss your next steps with your supervisor/s.
