The doctoral programme in Social Sciences (Directorate of Studies 40)
The doctoral programme in Social Sciences entails training through research. The duration of the doctoral training programme is three years and includes the writing of an original research work in form of a dissertation and a training component.
Entry phase (1st year)
- Find thesis supervisor
- Gain admission to programme
- Prepare research proposal
- Courses (up to 10 ECTS credits)
- Complete Research Ethics Pre-screening for PhD projects
- Register for public presentation at the Faculty (“FÖP”)
- Present research proposal and pass FÖP
- Sign doctoral thesis agreement
Research phase
- Conduct research and write doctoral thesis
- Submit annual progress reports
- Courses
Final phase
- Complete research and doctoral thesis
- Submit annual progress report
- Complete 30 ECTS credits through courses and, if needed, external activities (as specified in the doctoral thesis agreement)
- Submit doctoral thesis
- Wait for reviews
- Defend thesis
