Article Writing

Four-part coaching for doctoral candidates in the social sciences

Tuesday, 14 March, 25 April, 16 May and 20 June 2023, 17:00–20:00

Article writing is an integral part of almost every dissertation process. This four-part coaching addresses this fundamental requirement specifically for doctoral candidates in the social sciences. Supported by an experienced writing teacher and coach the group will discuss the challenges presented by both the large variety of articles out there and the two fundamentally different approaches to the dissertation process: individual studies that yield a paper each vs. one article generated from one aspect of a larger, long-term research. Especially for the latter group, the project of producing a peer-reviewed journal article alongside writing a monograph presents ample opportunity for procrastination.

This group can be used for structured support in the course of this writing process, using the experience of every single group member. If needed, feedback will be given on drafts, using the group as a resource to provide motivation and peer-to-peer support. The approach is process-oriented, the topics of each monthly three-hour session will be adapted to the group’s needs.
